4th Class Work During School Closure


The following is an outline of coursework which was to be covered from the 18th of March until the 29th of March 2020. We would strongly recommend that children complete the schoolwork while the school remains closed for Covid-19. The following is the usual order in which subjects would be taught in the classroom. We would recommend that the following be completed over the period of the closure. 

Week One:

Exploring Spelling: Unit 16 pg 68 ‘ct’ and ‘st’ words.

Mental Maths: Ms. Foley, Mrs. O’Siullivan, and Mr. Lynch: Week 27 pg 80 

                                Ms. Allen: Week 22 pg. 65

Busy at Maths: Chapter 24 Pattern (pages 122-124)

Practice telling time at home, both digital and analogue

Chapter 26: Chance (pages 129-132)

Tables Work: Please continue to revise the following: 

Multiplication: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

Division: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

Gaeilge: Photocopied stories from ‘Am Don Léamh’

English: Lets Go: Blue Whales and Orcas  Pg 216 ( activities pg 220 & 221 –B / D )

SESE : Project on Blue Whales and Orcas. Choose any whale and create a project about it on Powerpoint OR on a chart. Include the following information : Description/ Lifespan / Habitat / Diet / Facts

 

Week Two:

Exploring Spelling: Unit 17 pg  74 ‘Prefixes’ and ‘suffixes’ 

Mental Maths: Ms. Foley, Mrs. O’Siullivan, and Mr. Lynch: Week 28 pg 83

                             Ms. Allen: Week 23 pg. 67

Busy at Maths: Chapter 30: Multiplication & Division (pages 147 – 151)

Tables Work: Please continue to revise the following:

  • DEAR ( Drop Everything And Read) During the day encourage child to partake in DEAR time whenever they can. 
  • Twinkl.ie is an educational website that has lots of educational resources. Twinkl are offering one months free membership for parents. There is unlimited access to resources for every subject from junior Infants to sixth class. ( www.twinkl.ie/offer) 
  • Typing.com is a good resource to help children become proficient in their typing skills. You may help your children to create their own accounts. ( www.typing.com )
  • Top Marks is a website with a number of educational games. (www.Topmarks.com)
  • Sudoko or any other puzzles would be a great way to challenge children.
