School Improvement Plan

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN 2024-2025

St. Anthony’s BNS undertook a school self-evaluation of Wellbeing during the period September 2023 to January 2024.

Following our School Self-Evaluation which involved gathering data from parents, pupils and staff through questionnaires and pupil and staff focus groups, Culture and Environment was identified as our focus area for school improvement.

The three targets below were identified for actions in this cycle of wellbeing promotion, development and improvement.

The school improvement plan was ratified by the Board of Management on May 29th 2024.

Target 1 – Pupil Voice 

Increased opportunities will be provided for children to have an active voice in decisions relating to school improvement and wellbeing.

  • Action 1-  An election of a Student Council where Student Council meetings will be held on the third Thursday of every other month.

         A Student Council Constitution will be devised and displayed on the school website.

  • Action 2- All staff recognise student voice in decision making and will endeavour to support and promote their involvement.

Target 2 School Environment

The further development of indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate social interaction, physical activity and quiet time.

Accommodation is modified to meet the needs of all.

  • Action 1- The development of a quiet zone in the main yard.
  • Action 2- The relocation of the school garden to the front of the school.
  • Action 3- The development of a side yard adjacent to our ASD classes.
  • Action 4- The development of quiet spaces around the school, new sensory room, new Brain Calm room and Purple Pod.

Target 3 – School Building

The school building is examined for the potential of future development.

  • Action – A suitable space is identified for a new suitable staffroom to accommodate our increased level of staff.
