Feast of St Anthony
The boys assembled in the school hall today to celebrate the feast of St Anthony.
Born in Lisbon in 1195, St Anthony was a Portuguese Catholic priest and a member of the Franciscans. He died at the age of 35 in Padua, Italy.
Known for his powerful preaching, deep knowledge of scripture, and devotion to the poor and sick, he was one of the most quickly canonised saints in church history, canonised less than a year after his death. He was later proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1946.
