Canon Michael Crowley. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Today, we fondly remember our friend and former Parish Priest Canon Michael Crowley. Sadly, Canon Crowley died peacefully yesterday.

We remember and celebrate the great spiritual guidance, care, kindness and love he showed to the whole school community, but especially the boys.

While serving in Ballinlough, the Canon was a welcome daily visitor to our classes and we all looked forward to these spiritual lessons and good-humoured conversations.

He was a great supporter of our Sciath na Scol teams, attending all the finals, and travelling the province with us to attend the Mini-7s Munster competitions. Canon Crowley had a huge interest in the pupils’ teaching and learning and served on the Board of Management from 1999 to 2019.

He served in the Diocesan Mission to Peru and would share these stories with the boys, introducing them to Spanish, and always leaving the class saying, ‘Hasta La Vista’ and the boys responding with ‘Hasta Luego’.

A great but modest man, a friend and a servant to his flock, he loved the community of Ballinlough and especially St. Anthony’s B.N.S.  He has left a huge void but also an everlasting positive impression on us all.

A wonderful man, a true friend, a servant of God, a real Legend and an example to us all.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Canon Crowley’s family at this sad time.
